Going full circle

This past weekend I took Cecelia to a birthday party at one of those bounce places. We've actually never been before. A friend of ours broke his arm there once and I've been so hesitant to go -- but despite that feeling looming over my head we had a good time. I say "we" because I got to catch up with some of the moms and she had a fantastic time bouncing around with her friends.

The highlight of the day was what happened afterward the bounce party...we gave her friend a ride home and they she played at our house for a little bit. The interesting thing was that this particular friend Cecelia has known since their baptism (they were around 4 weeks old). They were baptized at the same time. I remember seeing her and her parents -- they were just as scared as we were (no one said the sleep deprivation and other aspects of a newborn were easy -- haha). That was the last time we saw her and her family. Five years later we ran into each other at Cecelia's new student ice cream social. We each unknowingly relocated to a new parish (they had moved out of state and came back), we now each have three kids, and our daughters who met at 4 weeks were now going to be in the same kindergarten class! We never pushed their friendship, but after a few months of kindergarten they became close friends on their own!

So there I was driving the two cute giggling girls back from the party. I had such a sense of happiness. Talk about going full circle!
