If you know me pretty well you know that I have a HUGE fear of germs. It revolves around my eyes to tell you the truth. With all my eye problems I have a big fear of getting an eye infection that would prevent me from using my contacts. Since I cannot see without contacts (glasses don't do anything for me -- it's a cornea issue) not being able to wear my contacts would be completely dibilitating since I have to take care of three little ones and do carpool! ANYHOW...this fear of germs causes me to carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go. As my dad says, I should buy stock in the company! Or did he say I should bathe in it? OK -- that is going just a little too far! haha
So, you can imagine that the pediatricians office is not my favorite place in the world. Through my eyes (no pun intended) I see all kinds of germs in that office. Ugh! My fear is so bad that I purposefuly schedule first morning appointments to avoid all the germs that collect in there over the day. Seriously! I'm that nuts about it!
However...today was Caroline's 3 year old appointment and I was not anxious or nervous about it. And to tell you the truth I had such a good experience. My little Caroline did so well (not a single tear! she must not be my child! haha) and laughed and smiled through the whole thing! OK -- she did sniff just a little bit during her shot, but just a wimper if that! Colin sat nicely in the double stroller eating his snack and things just couldn't have gone better. Caroline was so cute -- I wish we could do it again tomorrow! The doctor was asking her questions that a typical three year old would answer and one of them was "what do you do when you are chilly?" and Caroline in her little cute voice said "I put my jacket on!" Too cute!
My three year old Caroline got me through something that I have always dreaded -- with a smile on my face.
OK - so I did put sanitizer on their hands when we left, but who doesn't? Seriously!
