That is one of the girls' favorite songs! Caroline does an exceptionally cute version -- she says "Jelly!" so fast you can't even make it out! Click on the utube link to hear the song! Little did we all know that we now cannot even have peanut butter in our house. Poor little Colin is allergic. We found out yesterday after he grabbed a tiny piece of Cecelia's leftover sandwich from lunch. I saw him eat it and thought "watch him have an allergy." For those who do not have kids, pediatricians inform parents not to give peanut butter to kids under age two so they don't "develop" an allergy. Honestly I don't really understand that. Nevertheless, Colin HAS an allergy.
He started coughing, drooling, scratching all over the place, had flushed cheeks, and the scariest part was his shaking and chattering teeth! He was breathing OK, so I was kind of relaxed about the whole thing. But, I honestly didn't figure out what was happening until 10 minutes into it! I forgot about the peanut butter.
Once it hit me, I quickly called the doctor and by the time they called back (it was after hours) he was back to normal. So, we now have an appointment to see the pediatrician, possibly get an EpiPen (apparently next time it could be a worse reaction), and then see an allergist. The instructions for "right now" are to get all peanut/nut containing items out of the house. So much for my recent (expensive!) organic peanut butter purchase. Oh well -- such is life! And we all don't want to see Colin go though that again. Cecelia insists we should put a sign on our door saying "no peanuts allowed!" just like school! haha I'm glad she's not insisting on a food allergy table like they have in the lunch room -- haha!
