Day 2 proved to be a little tiring to tell you the truth. We spent some of the morning at the National Zoo -- I say "some" because most of the time was spent in the car actually getting to the zoo. Traffic was bad on 66 (why didn't I just go the toll road?) and then I missed the exit for Rock Creek Parkway (easy to do in my opinion) and had to make a detour through Georgetown, turn around, go through Dupont Circle, get on Connecticut Ave and go the long way to the zoo. Who would know that I actually go to the zoo quite often and really do know how to get there the easy way???!! We manged to see a few animals though -- a panda, elephant, monkey, and, our family favorite, a bunch of animals in the small mammal house. Funny thing is that I used to really dislike the small mammal house -- but I love it now because it's a great place to actually see some animals up close! The kids love spending time in there! Of course the morning wouldn't have been complete without our free animal crackers -- especially after walking up that long hill (I'm so out of shape!). We left right when the school kids arrived for field trips -- perfect timing in my eyes!
Sorry for the lack of pictures! I realized there was a smudge on the lens right at the end. Oh well -- at least I got a picture of the kids' favorite part -- eating animal crackers.
