So, about a week and a half ago we were all playing outside (during one of those warm days) with the neighbors. It was going great. Next thing I know I see Colin climbing up the ladder in the garage (it was leaning up against the wall) and then all of a sudden it falls down on top of Colin! My neighbor and I both saw it happen and we both agreed he didn't hit his head. But, Colin was just so upset that I was getting a little concerned. With three kids we have had tons of bumps and bruises (not to mention Colin falling off the kitchen table while in his bouncy seat!) and I've never once gone to the ER because he simply bounced back in a minute or two. I've called the paediatrician's office several times but after I followed their advice to "watch" the child in question I never had to go in -- they were fine.
This time, however, Colin just wouldn't stop crying. So, after a quick call to my mom and Jeff -- we were off to the ER. Thank goodness for my parents being close by -- they took the girls to Red Robin and got them in bed while Jeff and I focused on Colin. While at the ER he threw up twice and that prompted them to go ahead and give his head a CT scan. Thank goodness everything turned out fine -- CT came back negative! The next day the pediatrician confirmed he was OK (had to check him for signs of internal bleeding since the ladder fell on his body) and besides a little fussiness he was back to normal 24 hrs later!
So, what I thought was going to be an uneventful afternoon turned into an eventful one! But, when is there an uneventful day when you are a parent?
wow, that had to be so scary for you and Jeff. I'm glad he's alright!
