The honeymoon is over!

On Friday I got that great idea to paint our family room with the extremely discounted Benjamin Moore paint I blogged about a couple weeks ago! So, during nap time I taped and prepped the room (most of it -- Jeff still had to get to places I couldn't reach). Then once the kids were in bed we started to paint. Jeff wasn't as enthusiastic as I was, but he is right in saying that "Erin, once you get your mind set on something there is really no stopping you." Wow! Eight years of marriage and he's finally gotten the idea :) So, the kids were in bed at 7:45, and by the time we finished prepping (moved furniture, put out drop cloths, changed into painting clothes, etc.) it was 9pm. At 10:30 we were done with both coats! Talk about a world record (well, Meunier world record, I guess).

On Saturday we decided to prep the living room and paint on Sunday (that "fast" paining on Friday really tired us out!). So, while Colin took a nap, Jeff's parents watched the girls and Jeff and I painted the living room.

Now, these rooms really underwent a transformation -- not only was wall paper removal involved (just a border) but MASSIVE amounts of crayon were covered up with several (seriously, like six or seven) layers of paint! We also rid the house of all crayons and markets that are not washable to preserve our walls.

So, only the Lord knows where my kids find things, but yesterday evening I came in the family room to find Caroline and this...

Yes -- that is permanent marker on our freshly painted walls.

After some nail polish remover, Jeff painted another coat over these spots (the brushes were still wet from the day before!)

Needless to say, this is my "Goodness Gracious!" moment of the day -- totally deserved an entire post!
