The offical start of summer...wait, didn't it already start?

Lots of activity around our household the past week!

Last weekend, on the way to soccer, we noticed there was a mini festival being held at a business only a few steps from our house. So, after Cecelia played soccer and had her soccer pictures taken we got changed and headed over to check it out. Turns out there was balloon fun for the kids and even an ambulance and firemen! Caroline couldn't have been more thrilled with the ambulance, but Cecelia kept backing further and further away. Only God knows what she will do if we have a fire. We try to tell her that the men are brave and protect us in their "not scary" clothes, but she is convinced otherwise! Here is a cute pic of the girls in their fire hats w/their balloon creations -- Cecelia has butterfly wings and Caroline has a ladybug bracelet (quite appropriate).

In the midst of a crazy week (house had to be appraised...AGAIN!) the girls decided one morning that they wanted tattoos....Cars tattoos to be exact. Cecelia loves the movie. The interesting thing is they wouldn't take "no" for an answer when they asked Daddy if Colin could have a tattoo. While Jeff "watched" them as he surfed the web...Colin somehow had a tattoo on his arm! I was in the bedroom when this all happened so who the heck knows what went on! haha Oh well -- it was funny to say the least! Here's a pic of Colin sportin' his new tattoo in his footie pj's :)

Last but not least -- we joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) this year at Great Country Farms all the way out in Bluemont, VA. Every week we get a box of produce from the farm delivered to a local drop off spot. The neat part is that we get to go U-Pick every weekend for bonus stuff! Not only do we get extra food but the kids can have fun with it as well! This week our bonus U-Pick was strawberries. Other weeks we get blackberries, snow peas, corn and so much more (even digging our own potatoes!)! This will really give Cecelia a perspective on the life cycle of food (at least I hope!). The season lasts 20 weeks and will bring us right into fall with pumpkin picking!

Here are some pictures from strawberry picking today. Despite all being sick with colds for a few days we decided to attend their annual strawberry festival this weekend -- it was very crowded! They have so much to do there at the farm -- petting zoo, slides, etc. that we can take advantage of every time we go out there to U-Pick (at less crowded times of the season!)

All the kids pickin' berries!

The girls petting the baby goats -- too cute!

Colin participating in the Diaper Derby...poor kid just didn't want to participate. He sat there at the start line and cried until I came and picked him up. In this case, the race was over before it even began...but hey...we got a certificate and a rubber ducky for bath time!

At last -- resting in the stroller. What a day! But, we then headed off to Grandma and Pop Pop's for a cookout!

Happy Memorial Day!! Oh, be sure to watch the National Memorial Day Concert tomorrow night on PBS -- one of my favorite programs! Maybe you'll see my Dad standing up for the Coast Guard -- hehe..
