The temperature actually made it up into the 50's today! That 20 degree difference from the past few weeks made it feel like spring...but wait a minute, we didn't get any snow yet this year (or last year for that matter)! What's up with that? We are still anxiously waiting to try out Uncle Mike and Aunt Kristina's Christmas gift from last year -- a sled for the girls!
The nice weather did allow us to FINALLY spend some time outdoors -- 2 hrs worth! Being a child of my mother I made sure they had their "hat and gloves" (well, just hat today) on and Cecelia enjoyed playing with sidewalk chalk, bubbles and playing our "race ya" game in which we run towards each other and I catch her and spin her around. Caroline enjoyed watching all the excitement from her pack'n'play which I set up in the driveway. The afternoon ended with a slow walk through the neighborhood in which Cecelia annouced halfway through that she was tired, cold, and simply wanted to go home and watch Sesame Street on the couch -- talk about a fun filled afternoon! Grandma Miller stopped by for a surprise visit and then it was time for dinner, bath, and bed time.
Yesterday Cecelia had preschool and a funny story about the way home... We stopped by the Fairfax City library to return a book for Grandma Meunier and Cecelia decided she wanted to go in and check out some books. We get into the library (Caroline in stroller and all) and Cecelia annouces that she wants to use the potty when we get home. Trying to prolong our visit I suggested that she use the potty at the library -- makes sense, right? Well, the next thought out of Cecelia's mouth (in which the entire library heard) was that she didn't want to use the library potty. Turns out Cecelia still has a fear of public restrooms since an incident with Grandma Miller at the Nordstroms ladies room. Apparently the one they chose had a "malfunction" and kept flushing over and over -- according to Cecelia it was "flushing all over the place." Now, the question is -- how are we going to get her over this fear? Luckily we made it home from the library "in time."
Whatever, your kid is totally smart not wanting to use a public restroom!
